About us

My name is (雅)Ya(芙)Fu, a name that carries my parents' hopes—"Ya" meaning elegance and "Fu" representing purity. Perhaps this is why I've always been captivated by the beauty of poetry and the timeless grace of Hanfu.

My fascination with Chinese civilization began in childhood. The majestic Terracotta Warriors, the grandeur of the Forbidden City, the Great Wall's magnificence, and the enigmatic Sanxingdui culture—these became my after-school companions through countless books. Though my environment offered limited archaeological opportunities, my passion for ancient civilizations never dimmed, extending beyond China to historical sites worldwide.

In the early 2000s, finding authentic, historically accurate Hanfu was nearly impossible. Even theatrical costumes failed to capture the profound essence of ancient Chinese heritage. I often wondered: when would I finally wear my first true Hanfu?

At university, I initially pursued a practical degree. But my heart called elsewhere. I made the bold decision to switch to Chinese Literature and Language, telling myself: "If I don't follow my passion now, I may never get another chance." (If you're reading this, consider it your sign to pursue what you love.)

That choice transformed everything. I immersed myself completely in ancient Chinese texts, even mastering oracle bone script!

As my knowledge deepened, so did my desire to share Hanfu's beauty with the world—to help others experience the same elegance, grace, and cultural richness that had always moved me. This vision became The Hanfu Story.

I'm deeply grateful to everyone who connects with this journey. If you're interested in our pieces, please reach out—I'd love to include a thoughtful gift as my thanks.

Your support inspires me to improve daily while keeping our offerings accessible. Above all, I'm endlessly thankful for my husband's unwavering belief in this dream.
