Unlike today's pajamas, which are designed specifically for sleep, there wasn't a specific category of sleepwear in ancient China. The undergarments or underwear worn with Hanfu clothing were known as “Zhong Yi” or “Nei Yi” (inner clothes) which could also serve as sleepwear.
