Many Sui Dynasty fashion elements were passed down to the Tang dynasty. Women’s attire in the Tang dynasty commonly included “shan” or long overcoat, “ru” or top, “banbi” or short-sleeved coat, “pibo” scarf, and “qun” skirt. The scarf, on the other hand, does not cover the neck; instead, it covers the shoulders and sometimes simply hangs from the elbow.
Tang Dynasty's Qiyao Ruqun featured a three-piece, or four-piece ensemble with a flowing outer garment known as the “Da Xiu Shan” or big-sleeved coat, camisole, and wrapped skirt.
